DePolo, Ronald Anthony.   University of Nevada, Reno ProQuest Dissertations Publishing,  1995. 1377680.

Abstract (summary)

This thesis describes changes which have occurred in the economic structure of the state of Nevada, starting with the year 1949. The basic finding of this paper is the following: Nevada has historically been an atypical state. However, over time, Nevada has become more like the average U.S. state. The state's small population and it's initial attraction for high risk people have allowed it to amend its social, political, legal, and economic institutions relatively quickly.
